Pieces of my art journey and some that influenced it

The Lonesome Hat
The Lonesome Hat was inspired by a trip to Wyoming to visit my family. While I was in Wyoming, I was lucky enough to find some wild buffalo on the prairie to watch.

Lick N Chew
My daughter is a horse trainer in her spare time and she is always talking about a horse "lickin n chewing" as being a good sign. The lick signalizes that the animal is ready to "join up" or connect with a person. I just had to capture this moment on paper.

Bridled
My horse Kandi and I have a special connection physically and emotionally. The bridle is out physical connection and it is how I communicate with her while riding. No words are needed when we ride together.

Buffalo
The buffalo is the ultimate symbol of the American West. I attempted to put to paper a fraction of the power, beauty, and freedom this animal exudes.

Bootstrappin'
This piece was a self-portrait of a characteristic that I like about myself. I like that I am hardworking and willing to do what needs to be done in order to get a job done.

Sunday Brunch
My aunt worked her way through college in a time where women were fighting for equality. The determination and courage she had to achieve her accomplishments has inspired me to continue my own education later in life.

Bronc Twister
This piece by Charles Russell partly inspired my piece "Bootstrappin". The action and movement this artist is able to portray through a still medium helped inspire me to bring that type of movement into my own pieces. IT helps that this artist has been a hero of mine since I was a child due to the fact that his sculpture frequently appeared on the cover of equine magazines that I would read.

Bronco Buster
Frederick Remington is the artist of this piece. I have seen his works since I was a young artist. I often attempted to drawing his paintings and sculptures, but I could never capture their essence like he could.
